Record Store Day 2017

Record Store Day 2017

“I’m thankful that some people still focus on albums and physical copies,” said Steve Martin Founder of Ignition Music Garage. “The story of vinyl records is one of the few bright spots in a rapidly changing music business. I believe we need to make a statement that artists, record labels, producers, engineers, concert venues and record stores are valuable contributors to the quality of our lives. Something powerful happens when we listen in the air, together.”

(from RSD Website) This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances.

Ignition will once again be featuring; Food, Goshen Brewing Beer, Limited Edition Vinyl and Live music. Last year over 500 people gathered downtown to celebrate Record Store Day with us. We have hundreds of RSD titles ordered as well as special record label deals. “It is hard to believe that the vinyl renaissance led by Record Store Day is only 10 years old, we’re proud to have been here for the majority of them.”

“This year we are encouraging people to bring their treasured collectors’ albums to spin on 91.1 The Globe during their live broadcast. There are some very significant recordings that only surfaced for Record Store Days past, it’s time to get them out and give them a spin with all your friends.”

We decided to close the day with a national touring act on our stage and are honored to have two; Penny & Sparrow and Lowland Hum. Penny & Sparrow are on Single Lock / Thirty Tigers. John Paul White (Civil Wars) and Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) produced their record, “Let a Lover Drown You”.

Check out the single “Finery” to hear their finely meshed voices over a great lyric.
